December is packed with holiday events at Chagrin Valley Little Theatre - 12/1/10

CHAGRIN FALLS, OH - Chagrin Valley Little Theatre is the place to be for family entertainment this month, with five different shows and events on the calendar from now until New Year's Eve.

On CVLT's main stage, the musical Annie continues its run through December 18th, with performances Friday and Saturday evenings at 8 PM and Sunday performances at 2 PM on December 5th** and December 19th. Tickets are $18 regular, $14 for students and seniors. Tickets for the December 5th matinee are being sold exclusively through Friends of WomenSafe, a non-profit organization. If you wish to attend that performance, you are encouraged to call (440) 285-3741 for tickets. CVLT also thanks Merrill Lynch for financial support of this production.

CVLT's River Street Playhouse stage continues with Wendy Weiner's comedy Hillary: A Modern Greek Tragedy with a (somewhat) Happy Ending on Friday and Saturday evenings at 8 through December 11. This show, with tickets at $10, turns the life of Hillary Rodham Clinton into a hilarious Greek Tragedy parody, with the goddesses Athena and Aphrodite meddling in the lives of "Hil and Bill" from on high.

For the younger set, the theatre presents its 26th annual "Holiday Show & Gingerbread Tea". The show, focused toward children age ten and younger, includes Santa and Mrs. Claus along with their friends, with a short, interactive Christmas play that invites children to sing along on stage as well as an exciting villain chase through the audience. Parents are encouraged to bring their cameras to capture all of the excitement as well as a picture of their child with Mousie, Rudolph, or Santa. The Holiday Show will take place December 12th and 13th, with performances at 1:00 and 3:30 each day. The Gingerbread Tea sittings take place half and hour before and after each show in the beautifully decorated River Room on CVLT's second floor. Each tea-time is limited to 60 guests, so early reservations are highly recommended. Tickets for this event are $6 for the show, with a $2 add-on per person for Gingerbread Tea seating.

The popular Chagrin Falls Studio Orchestra, under the direction of Stephen A. Eva, expands their annual Christmas Wassail Concert to two nights this year, with performances at 7 PM on December 22 and December 23. Tickets are $20 for adults and $15 for children or students with valid ID. This event is sponsored by Hamlet Retirement Village and presented by the Studio Orchestra and Chagrin Valley Little Theater.

And finally, on December 31st, CVLT will present "Decades of Divas: A New Year's Eve Cabaret". This musical revue features the mother/daughter teams of Paula Pike and Greta Rothman, and Pamela LaForce and Alex LaForce-Marzullo. With musical direction and accompaniment from Bob Day and his band, the ladies celebrate the incoming year with bold and brassy music from film, pop, and Broadway by the legendary, powerful women who pushed the envelope and dared to be themselves. From Billie Holiday to Bette Midler, Liza Minnelli to Lady Gaga, this show is a family-friendly way to pay homage to decades of timeless tunes while ringing in 2011. The $25 per person ticket includes a post-show wine and hors d'oeuvres reception with the performers. Youth tickets are available at $10. Curtain time is 8:00 PM and the show and reception will be over in plenty of time to move on to your final "midnight destination".

Tickets and information on all of these events are available at www.CVLT.org, or by phone at 440-247-8955, Monday through Saturday from 1-6 PM. The theater is located at 40 River Street in historic Chagrin Falls Village. Dinner packages are available with local restaurants.

Chagrin Valley Little Theatre is generously funded by Cuyahoga County residents through Cuyahoga Arts and Culture and is supported by the Ohio Arts Council.
