CVLT began the biennial 10-10 Festival in 2009, putting out the call for short plays to be performed at its River Street Playhouse, the smaller venue adjacent to the main theater building. Ten plays would be chosen, each lasting roughly ten minutes. The first 10-10 that July was a resounding success, receiving submissions from all over Northeast Ohio and beyond. Following years' events were equally popular.

Now The 10-10 is back for its fifth edition and we have received over 1200 script submissions. This year's selections are:

  • The Interrogation by Phil Darg of New Hope, MN
a short drama about an intimidating cop and a vulnerable ex-meth user.
  • Crickets by Bruce Boeck of Normal, IL
a sweet, endearing piece about a couple reminiscing after their daughter's wedding
  • GWTW Abridged by Annie Taft of Chapel Hill, NC
a fun-loving, fast-paced romp of the classic, Gone With the Wind.
  • Hocking Murray by George Sapio of Spencer, NY
the tale of a widow wanting to hock her ring
  • Pumps by Brett Hursey of Farmville, VA
a comedy about a pair of stylish, trendy, and utterly fantastic pumps
  • Two Girls by Allie Costa of Los Angeles, CA
Two women, two events, two paths.
  • Slow Dating by Adam Szudrich of Sydney, Australia
Experience doesn't always cushion the realities of the dating world.
  • Front Desk by John Lane of Stanton, CA
A man meets the Universe's toughest Concierge.
  • Roommates by Matthew Fowler of Astoria, NY
You can pick your friends, but you can't always pick your roommates
  • The King Of Earth by Jordan Rawlins of Culver CIty, CA
Two strangers, KFC, and Kim Kardashian add up to a night for a king.
  • Business As Usual by Donald Edelman of Chagrin Falls, OH
