Bring your family and friends to Chagrin Valley Little Theatre for an evening of musical nostalgia with two "mother and daughter" teams: Paula Pike and Greta Rothman, and Pam LaForce and Alex LaForce-Marzullo. Join us as we celebrate the incoming year with bold and brassy music from film, pop, and Broadway and those legendary, powerful women who pushed the envelope and dared to be themselves as they made some of the most memorable music in history! From Billie Holiday to Bette Midler, Liza Minnelli to Lady Gaga, this cabaret-style evening will be an uplifting way to pay homage to decades of timeless tunes while ringing in 2011.
The $25 per person ticket includes a post-show wine and hors d'oeuvres reception with the performers.
Curtain time is 8:00 PM with the show lasting 90 minutes (no intermission); With the show and reception culminating well before midnight, you will have the chance to enjoy the show and reception while still having time to move on to your final "midnight destination", be that home, or another party!
About the Performers
Greta Rothman has performed in, directed, and created, five New Year's Eve shows for CVLT. Her other directing and writing credits include three Murder by the Falls benefits which she co-wrote with her brother Drew ("Law & Order: C.V.LT.", "80 Years of Knockin' 'Em Dead", and "Who Ya Gonna Call?") and also the highly successful 2008 production of The Wizard of Oz. On the performance side, CVLT audiences may recognize Greta from her recent turn as 'Rizzo' in Grease, or other favorites such as 'Gertrude McFuzz' in Seussical: The Musical, 'Georgie' in The Full Monty, and 'Gymnasia' in A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum. Greta is brimming with antici….pation as she prepares to direct CVLT's production of The Rocky Horror Show in the summer of 2011.
Pamela LaForce has been directing, choreographing and performing at such theatres as: Actor's Summit, Beck Center, Cain Park, Willoughby FAA, Mercury Summer Stock, Weathervane, and of course, CVLT. Recent credits in directing/choreography include: Forever Plaid, Grease, The Wizard of Oz, Urinetown, Cabaret, Honk!, Nuncrackers, The Full Monty, and the Forgotten Broadway, Not Yet! and The Kid Inside New Year's Eve revues at CVLT. Upcoming shows include: Chicago at ACT and The Rocky Horror Show at CVLT this summer. Favorite performance credits include: 'Rose' (twice) in Gypsy, 'Sister Amnesia/Robert Anne' (twice) in Nunsense, 'Diana' (twice) in A Chorus Line, 'Audrey' in Little Shop of Horrors, 'The Narrator' in Joseph and the Technicolor Dreamcoat, 'Paula' in The Goodbye Girl, and 'The Witch' in Into The Woods.
Paula Pike has performed in several of CVLT's Murder by the Falls events, three of CVLT's New Year's Eve shows, as well as collaborations with the Chagrin Falls Studio Orchestra; Man of La Mancha ('Moorish Dancer') and Guys and Dolls, Other recent appearances include A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum as 'Tintinabula', and 'Susan' in The Full Monty. Favorite CVLT roles include, 'Glinda' in Wizard of Oz, 'Audrey' in Little Shop of Horrors, 'Jack's Mother' in Into the Woods, 'Lily St. Regis' in Annie, 'Tessie Tura' in Gypsy and 'Kate' in Pirates of Penzance. She a member of the 'Music and Drama Club'.
Alex LaForce-Marzullo is no stranger to the stage, and started attending rehearsals with her mom at thirteen months old. Her last appearance on the CVLT stage was as 'Star-to-Be/Ensemble' in Annie. Other appearances include: 'Marty' in Grease, Duck Hunter Shoots Angel ( Kansas ), The Wizard of Oz (Dorothy), Honk! (Henrietta/Barnacles/Queenie), A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum (one of the Geminae),Nuncrackers (Louise), The Full Monty (Betty), Seussical: The Musical (Wickersham), and Annie (Kate). She is currently majoring in Musical Theatre at Kent State University , and is thrilled to be sharing the stage with her Mom once again!
Bob Day returns to Chagrin Valley Little Theatre for the fifth time on New Year's Eve, having music directed Greta Rothman's Those Seven Little Words in 2004, Not Yet! in 2005, Forgotten Broadway in 2007, and The Kid Inside in 2009. Bob retired from 30 years of teaching high school choral music in 2005, but continues as organist at Church Of The Saviour in Cleveland Heights, and serves as principal accompanist of Cleveland's North Coast Men's Chorus. He has been an accompanist and/or music director for productions at the Cassidy Theater, Tri-C West, Cain Park, the old Berea Summer Theater at Baldwin Wallace College, and also here at CVLT.
