About the Play
CVLT and the Chagrin Falls Studio Orchestra invite you fall in love with the music of Broadway!
Director: Don Edelman
Musical Director / Conductor: Stephen A. Eva
Choreographer: Ida Porris
Music Arranger: Bill Corcoran
Steve Eva and Don Edelman team up for the third year running to bring you a special one-weekend-only concert musical event, featuring the 35-piece Chagrin Falls Studio Orchestra on stage.
Under the direction of Don Edelman, some of the area's finest performers—Rob Albrecht, Christopher Hunter, Gene Karlen, Rebecca Marks, Patrick Mazzarino, Libby Merriman, Sharon Lloyd and Lydian DeVere—will sing popular songs from Broadway musicals, including Guys & Dolls, Oklahoma!, The Music Man, Fiddler on the Roof, Cabaret, West Side Story, South Pacific, Kiss Me Kate and more. "Many songs from classic musicals become hits in their own right," notes Mr. Edelman, "And it is thrilling share them with our audience in one spectacular, fast-paced show."
Stephen Eva, musical director and conductor, will lead the full Studio Orchestra as they perform complete orchestrations—with many original arrangements by Bill Corcoran—from the stage. "It is unusual for smaller venues to be able to support full orchestras, and often the breadth of the music is sacrificed due to space constraints." says Mr. Eva. "Our show is unique in community theater as it allows the audience to fully appreciate the depth and brilliance of the arrangements."
About the Orchestra
The Chagrin Falls Studio Orchestra is volunteer-driven, nonprofit musical endeavor that brings studio arrangements, as well as the classics that inspired them, to stages in the Chagrin Valley community. The Studio Orchestra is the only known orchestra in the region with a particular focus on studio arrangements. Written as film scores and rarely played live, studio arrangements represent some of the most dynamic, high-energy music of our time, by some of the most respected composers. The Studio Orchestra affords its musicians the privilege and honor to play these original works—and its audience members the rare opportunity to hear them played live. With guest musicians and vocalists as well as multimedia presentation, the performance experience is more than just a concert—it represents a new vision in musical entertainment.
