About the Show

CVLT welcomes home Chagrin Falls native Tim Conway for a special engagement!

Tim Conway will appear on the stage of the Chagrin Valley Little Theatre at 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday, June 6, 7and 8 to celebrate the Theatre’s 80th Anniversary Season. Tickets to his performances will be available to the public beginning April 15 after they are first offered to Theatre season subscribers and contributors.

In commenting on his performances Tim states that they will consist of a series of events and stories that led him into show business rather than becoming a jockey. He further comments that “it will be a comic approach unless there are no laughs, then it will be a lecture.”

Brisk sales are expected and the number of tickets available to individuals will be limited. Contingency plans for overflow crowds are being prepared based on the anticipated demand that may exceed Theatre capacity for the two nights.

Mr. Conway will be here in part as Honorary Chairman of CVLT’s soon to be announced 80th year capital campaign which will include Theatre refurbishments and property acquisition. As part of this, he will appear at various events that will highlight the campaign. Gamekeeper’s and Jekyll’s Kitchen, River Street area restaurants, will be sites for these events. Additionally, Tim’s visit will be covered by local and Cleveland newspapers and he will appear on public television and radio.

The following article was reported by Sarah Crump in The Plain Dealer on February 25, 2010:

Tim Conway Returns to Chagrin

CHAGRIN FALLS, Ohio -- Tim Conway, Chagrin Falls' favorite son (and favorite actor), will come back to his hometown in June to give a benefit performance at Chagrin Valley Little Theatre.

It will be the first time the star of "The Carol Burnett Show," "The Apple Dumpling Gang" and the crazily successful "Dorf on Golf" videos has graced the Chagrin theater's stage since 1964.

That year, he played Ensign Pulver in "Mr. Roberts" to help raise money for the theater while also playing the slightly more famous seaman, Ensign Charles Parker, on the TV hit "McHale's Navy."

Conway's one-man show, together with another day of receptions, will be scheduled in early June, said Tom Neff, president of Chagrin Valley's board of directors. He said he expects a quick sellout of the 262-seat house when the dates are announced within the next two weeks.

The theater reached an agreement Tuesday with Conway, 77, a six-time Emmy Award winner, who will fit in the Chagrin Valley dates with the 2010 tour schedule of "Tim Conway & Friends." Conway's touring show plays 23 U.S. cities through November.

Tickets for the Chagrin Valley appearance will be $80 -- in honor of the theater's 80th anniversary season this year. But the theater's box office will not take reservations until firm dates are decided.

The night Conway doesn't appear onstage, he'll be at a few receptions and a dinner with a meet-and-greet that officials hope will make even more money for the theater. Those details have not yet been set.

In a Plain Dealer interview in September, Conway mentioned off-handedly that he would like to raise money for the community playhouse "at a little get-together down at the theater -- maybe a lecture," but that he hadn't yet told theater officials his wish.

Neff said Conway's appearance, which the theater tried to negotiate for its 75th anniversary, will be a rousing way to celebrate its 80th.

"We'll have a lively couple of days when he's here," Neff said.
